Hannah Jensen has been creating and performing music her whole life. She started playing piano at five years old and hasn’t looked back. Hannah’s love of music and passion for sharing it with others has taken her from the classrooms of Hastings to New York City to the Dominican Republic where she has taught music to children and seminary students alike. Hannah holds degrees in piano performance and music education from Hastings College but if it’s an instrument and you put it in front of her she can probably play it. Drawing on the influences of pop, jazz, and folk, Hannah’s music is played on piano and guitar and features her unique voice and melodies. Her homespun songs spring forth from her life and the lives of her friends and family. Hannah’s music carries within it a sense of peace and certainty amid the chaos of life. It is open. It is honest. It comes from heart.
Though a native of Ottawa, Kansas, Hannah has called Hastings, NE home for the last 14 years. Living a “have music – will travel” life style, Hannah also owns and operates her own piano studio (Hannah’s Piano Studio, LLC) which keeps her busy with over 60 private piano students. She also accompanies for both Hastings College and Adams Central choirs, teaches music at Children’s Ark Day Care and Preschool, and accompanies for Sunday services at area churches.
Hannah holds an unshakable faith in the power of music to transform lives and she is happy to share the gift of song with others. She’s excited (and mildly terrified) to make her public debut at The Lark with the help of her friends Emily Funkey and Karli Cabrera.
