Q) What is the difference between the Lark and the Listening Room?
A) The Listening Room Concert Series is the non-profit organization that we created in 1991.The Listening Room Concert Series is the root of that non-profit. We produced great concerts in rented spaces for 20 years. In 2011, we decided to build a place of our own, The Lark. After a year of building a business model and designing the space, we began the $1.5 million construction of The Lark at 809 West 2nd Street. The Lark is the home of our beloved concert series as well as a thriving events space. In our first year of operations we hosted 70+ rental events ranging from weddings to comedy shows!!! Only the first floor of The Lark is complete. We still have construction of the mezzanine and 2nd floor to go. Those levels will host business spaces, a classroom and conference room.
Q) What makes the Lark different for performances than other spaces?
A) The Lark has an excellent performance stage and an intimate venue that is still spacious. The acoustics are superior to many other spaces. General seating and table seating is available and there is room for dancing. There is a professionally managed bar available for drinks and a warming kitchen if catering is needed for any event. There is professional lighting and sound engineering available for performances as well as a green room for artists.
Q) If I want to book the Lark, how do I find out if it is available?
A) The Lark has become very popular for events, parties and receptions. Our calendar is available online so you can see if it is open the day you wish to book. http://thelarkdowntown.com/events-calendar/ However, please don’t hesitate to contact us if you need more information or special arrangements for your event.
