Read below how Viv Sidlo got hooked on the Listening Room!
My love for live music is what got me involved with The Listening Room. I was so excited after I just happened upon a Listening Room concert; it was at the OK Café and I don’t remember who it was but I was hooked.
I had, in my past, lived in Kearney and Lincoln and there were always live music performed from local and far away bands to go listen to and enjoy.
After The Listening Room moved to the Knights of Pythias I found myself volunteering and it wasn’t long after that I was asked to be a board member. What I like best about being a board member is that we are a working board and we actually get involved; setting up before shows, moving tables and chairs from one venue to another, scraping glue off the floors at The Lark, taking money at the gate and selling merchandise, helping prepare meals for the artists, cleaning up after the shows, just to name a few.
I have gotten to meet lots of fun people in the community by doing this, who all want to promote live music.
If you haven’t been to a Listening Room concert at The Lark I invite you to check us out at our new home and support live music in a fun, cozy place with great people in downtown Hastings. You just might be hooked!
