As a nonprofit organization, arts education and development of emerging artists are essential parts of our mission. The Larkspur series was created to inspire and support local, regional, and traveling musicians/songwriters to play their music to a room of supportive music lovers. The artists produce their own shows, providing sound, promotion, and lodging. We support their shows by offering The Lark’s acoustically fabulous venue, promoting the shows on social media, selling tickets online and being there the night of the show to help in any way we can. All ticket sales proceeds go to support the artist or musician.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Hannah Jensen has been creating and performing music her whole life. Since starting on piano at the age of five, Hannah hasn’t looked back. Her love of music and passion for sharing it with others has taken her from the classrooms of Hastings to New York City to the Dominican Republic where she has taught music to children and adult
students alike. Hannah holds degrees in piano performance and music education from Hastings College. Drawing on the influences of pop, jazz, and folk, Hannah’s music is played on piano and guitar and features her unique voice, thoughtfully crafted lyrics, and enchanting melodies. Her homespun songs spring forth from her life and the lives of her friends and family. Hannah’s music carries within it a sense of peace and certainty amid the chaos of life. It is open. It is honest. It comes from the heart. A native of Ottawa, Kansas, Hannah has called Hastings, NE home for the last 18 years. Never one to sit still well, Hannah owns and operates her own piano studio (Hannah’s Piano Studio, LLC), accompanies the Adams Central choirs, and recently founded the non-profit Hastings Community Music Academy. Her most recent studio
album, Light as the Air, is available for purchase, stream, and download on all major platforms. So when you like what you hear please know you’ll be able to track it down! Hannah’s life is guided by an unshakable faith in the power of music to transform lives and she is happy to share the gift of song with others.
As an Adams Central and Hastings College graduate, Chad is no stranger to the heartland. Born and raised on the streets of Lake Hastings, he’s been drawn to music his entire life. After being
actively involved in choir, band and playing drums/guitar in several cover bands throughout high school and college, he moved out to Denver in June of 2012.
There he spent several years recording and performing in the Colorado based band, Vermillion Road. In 2018, he stepped out from behind the drum kit and wrote and recorded a full album under his new project, called EverIgnite. They released their debut album ‘SHIFT’ in September of that year, which even included a special stop by The Lark for an acoustic set during a Midwest tour.
Chad is set to hit the studio again this November to record a brand new EP. He can’t wait to come home and give his hometown crowd a sneak peak at the new songs, along with a few favorites from ‘SHIFT’ and a handful of covers that will surely have you singing along.
